3 teens, 2 days, 1 city...(Part 2 of 3)

Saturday, we headed out to see the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. On the way there, we were lucky enough to run into the Horse Guards' Parade on its way to the Palace so we followed them there. There were so many people, we actually couldn't see any of the ceremony, but I still managed to get some pictures. The Guards' band was playing and we recognized a few of the songs: Ricky Martin's "La Vida Loca," the Beatles' "With A Little Help From My Friends," and one we're pretty sure was from Pirates of the Caribbean! After the ceremony, we decided to walk around the palace to see if we could see any more of it, but sadly, all we got to see was the barbed-wire tipped brick wall around the grounds.

The Changing of the Guard

We then headed to a pub the was recommended on a traveler's forum, since we wanted to try some English food, but about halfway there, we were feeling exhausted and since we'd happened to stop in front of a pub, we went there instead. It was really good food.

After lunch, we made the big stop for the day: the British Museum. They say you need at least 2 hours to even do a bare minium tour. We passed through the areas housing objects of all kinds (statues, sculptures, jewelry, weaponry, coins, etc.) from Egypt, Assyria, Greece, and Rome. We saw THE Rosetta Stone, Cleopatra's mummy, pieces from the actual Parthenon, among other things.

THE Rosetta Stone!

The museum left us kind of tourismed out, so we decided to see a movie to relax a little.
We relaxed in Leicester Square until the movie started and then we went home.
